Telecom Regulatory Authority of India issued directive to all telecom operators of India to stop charging extra on Blackout days for SMS and calls. It is now a practice that operators are charging more on SMS and calls on festival days which is announced as Blackout days.

But as per the directive of TRAI, it is mentioned that Operators should not charge more Tariff for Calls and SMS which is more than the base tariff of the customer under any circumstances. This will give more trasparency of billing especially on the black out days.

Exclusive: Tata Docomo Introduces Double Data Benefits on 3G Postpaid

       Tata Docomo 3G announced a double data benefit for their prospective 3G customers in Kerala for the first 3 months of activation. This plan is applicable only to postpaid customers. This is a great plan getting launched to attract high data usage customers who are consuming more than 5GB data usage per month. Post 3 months of Double data benefit customers enrolled in this plan will be moved to normal plan which will 6GB per month.

BSNL to re-open various full talk time offers across India

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited today decided to re-open their various full talk time which was earlier introduced in the time of Independence Day and Ramzan.

This new decision is considering the forthcoming festival like Dussehra, Bakri-Eid, Diwali, Christmas and New Year. BSNL customers across India would get the benefit of this offer and it is decided to open the offer from September 19th till further notice.

Full talk time offer will start from the lowest denomination of Rs. 110. The next denominations are 220, 440 and 550.

Kerala Telecom reports a record de-growth on SIM Card Activations for the month of August'2012

In spite of Onam hype, Kerala telecom operators report's a record de-growth of 25% on SIM card sales compared to July'2012. Numbers never dropped to this much in the history of last 3 years. All major operators de-grown numbers even though there was huge MNP port-ins from Uninor, as most of the operators got this benefit in the month of August (on 24th July, Uninor announced their scaling down of operations in Kerala including other 4 circles).

Operators reported a 5% growth over previous month in 2011 Onam season.

Excellent Initiative from BSNL : To give coverage in 37000 remote villages

Mobile technology is very much advanced and major operators are giving coverage in almost all major towns and villages and the coverage width is still expanding.

Even though we have 37000 remote villages which is not covered by any of the operators in India. In order to give coverage in these villages, National telecom operator BSNL is adopting a new technology called DSPT (digital satellite phone terminal).

Tata Docomo 3G : Revised Tariff details and benefits

Kerala Tata DOCOMO has announced a tariff revision on their 3G RCV 255 with effect from today. RCV 255 which was giving a data benefit of 1GB for 30 days has been revised to 21 days with same 1GB benefit.

The earlier announced RCV 255 was as part of their product promotional activity and they got good response from the market. For one month validity, they have got another product priced at Rs.350 which is giving a validity of 30 days with data benefit of 1.5 GB.
