MTS Decides not to bid in the coming Spectrum Auction

Now it is almost clear that, the CDMA operator MTS with more than 16 million active customers has decided not to bid in the coming Spectrum auction. Also news are spreading that they have cut down their infra structure in many of the circles. As per the court order all 122 licenses will get cancelled with effect from January 2013. On the other side high speculations are there that MTS is in talks with Aircel to buy their foreign share of 74% from Malaysian operator MAX telecom.

Whatever the case, once this news spread across to the trade as well as to the customers; they will be in great dilemma whether to sell this product / whether to buy this product. MTS is got 1.7 million data customers out of this total of 16 million. Their Data product is well acceptable among customers because of their product quality and good services.

Not like GSM connections, a CDMA customer has to spend reasonably good amount to get a connection including mobile. For Data customer it is more than that. So a customer going to buy this connection will think twice whether to buy this or not as there is only two more months to get their operator license cancelled and after that they are no longer be able to use their connections.

By taking this opportunity other operators are planning to scale up their operations to increase their counter share as one of the major CDMA operator is moving out from market.

In the same time MTS has submitted a curative petition in court and they hope court will return all their Indian licenses.
