For its phone users (read GSM prepaid customers), Tata Docomo had lately launched a new service which offers them a new way of registering their mobile numbers and adding value added services to their mobile plans, using their Twitter accounts. GSM prepaid customers can tweet at the Tata Docomo Twitter account, @tatadocomo with their request. Tata's called this new initiative TwittCom and it was developed indigenously by the team at Tata Teleservices Limited. Basically, if you want to register your mobile number, you send a tweet to @tatadocomo and type #reg <mobile number>. You will then receive a text message with a pin code for verification. Once you receive the verification code, you need to tweet again to @tatadocomo and type #code <pin code>.

The @tatadocomo account will retweet this tweet to confirm the registration. The aim behind this initiative is to hone in on the social networking generation. Tata Docomo had also partnered with RIM to offer Blackberry 9320 post-paid subscribers 10GB data and a certain number of free calls. The bundled services that Dococmo offers includes a plan worth Rs 1,080 on monthly basis that ensures customers opting for the plan will recover the cost of the new BlackBerry device in 15 months.
